Maxine Nienow was born and raised in Mexico. She studied Fine Arts in Paris and obtained a BFA in Photography from Parsons School of Design in New York. Her work has been exhibited in galleries in New York, Miami and the Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg, Russia.

With a strong interest in human behavior and anthropology her images explore the relation of her subjects and their environment. Her most recent project addresses issues of prejudice, cultural identity and violence as played out in the classist struggle in Mexico. Through staged documentary Maxine is able to highlight issues and realities she believes are important to address- to expose the injustice and violence of her country.

She currently lives and works in New York.
